Youths should rejoice as SSC has announced a large number of openings, and applications are now being accepted.

 


For young people, the BSSC vacancy is big news. The Staff Selection Commission has published positions for another massive recruitment in Bihar; apply starting today. The state has announced another opportunity in the wake of the recent recruitment for Bihar Police Constables and Home Guards. Applications are now being accepted for 682 Junior Statistical Officer and Block Statistical Officer vacancies by the Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC). Interested candidates may apply online at bssc.bihar.gov.in till April 21, 2025, since the application process opens today, April 1, 2025. The notification states that the application fee must be paid online by April 19, 2025, using a credit card, debit card, UPI, net banking, etc.


SBI and ICICI Bank are the two banks that can process the examination fee. Candidates will see the names of both banks, the various payment options, and the exam fee amount when they pay it. There are 313 unreserved spots among the open jobs, 98 for SC, 7 for ST, 112 for MBC, 62 for backward classes, 22 for backward class women, and 68 for EWS. Furthermore, under horizontal reservation, 231 positions are set aside for women.



Selection Criteria: A written test of 75 marks and a 25-mark experiential component will make up the selection procedure. Candidates with contract work experience in the same role will be given preference; up to 35 points can be earned, with 5 points provided for each year of service. Marks for partial years will be determined proportionately by multiplying the number of working days by five and dividing the result by 365.

Age Requirements: 

  • 40 years for women in the general category 
  • 21 to 37 years for general applicants
  • For BC/OBC (male and female), 40 years
  • For SC/ST (male and female), the age is 42 years. 

Minimum Requirements for Admission:

  • 40% of the category is unreserved.
  • 36.5% are backward classes.
  • Scheduled Tribe/Caste: 34%
  • Women: 32 percent
  • 32% of all categories are disabled.
  • 32% is the overall minimum qualifying score. 

Exam fees: 

  • Rs 540 for male applicants in the general category, backward class, and extremely backward class
  • Rs 135 for SC/ST candidates who are Bihar permanent residents.
  • Rs. 135 for all Divyang groups (much like SC/ST).
  • Women in all categories (applied only to Bihar permanent residents): Rs. 135
  • Male and female candidates from outside Bihar must pay Rs. 540. 

Pattern of the Exam

More than 40,000 applications are anticipated, per the Bihar Staff Selection Commission Examination Conducting Rules-2010.

After applications are received, the preliminary review will happen. There may be several levels to the preliminary exam if there are a lot of applications. If the preliminary and main exams are conducted in various stages, an equalization procedure will be used to standardize the results. The format of the preliminary test will be objective. The number of candidates chosen for the main exam will be five times the number of open positions in each category. For the primary exam, a different ad will be released. 

One general knowledge paper covering the following topics will be part of the preliminary exam.

(a) General Studies

(b) Mathematics and general science.

(c) Test of Mental Ability.
